I am a Christian.

Jesus_christ-4

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I know that it is a church that has a fullness of truth and priesthood authority. It is Christ’s gospel on the Earth today.

This is an important part of who I am and what I believe and I’d like to share what has truly brought peace, joy and understanding to my life.
Although I am sharing what I believe in a public way, at the same time I will not hide such a huge part of me. Being a Christian is not all that I am, but it does shape and affect much of what I do, and how I think and approach things. Readers of this blog will notice that my topics mostly centre on being a wife, an author, and a mother, this is the niche I’ve chosen, however, I won’t shy away from talking about prayer or going to church either if it is relevant, because that is part of who I am.

I would love to encourage discussion and meaningful conversation when it comes to what I believe in regards to God or a Higher Power, however, experience has taught me to tread lightly. I will not converse with those who use hateful rhetoric, aggressive slanderings or half-truths they purport as correct. I am most especially bothered by those who feel the need to take words and sentences out of context and manipulate them to say what they want. To do any of these things is not kind and is certainly not Christ like. So please, be considerate.

I have always enjoyed spiritual discussions. I’ve had many friends of different faiths and beliefs over the years and it has been a joy to converse with those who discuss a variety of topics with genuine interest and sincerity.
There are many things being said about The Restored Church of Christ, which has a nickname of the Mormon Church, that are simply not true, and so if you really want to know what we believe see here: www.mormon.org

I was raised knowing and understanding what I then thought to be basic truths, as I grew into adulthood I came to realize that not everyone believed as I did. This only fuelled my desire to understand more and know for myself that the church I was attending taught the truth.
Through study, prayer and personal meditation I came to know for myself that God is real. I know that He is our Heavenly Father and loves us as his children. I know that He created a divine plan for us in which we were to come to Earth and gain a body and be tested.
I know that my family is eternal and that the family unit is essential, both in God’s plan and in society.

I know that there is a Prophet on the earth today just as there was in ancient times. I know that the Book of Mormon is holy scripture and it is a second witness that Jesus is the Christ.

I know that as I learn and further my spiritual understanding I will draw closer to God and that I will be a better person for it.

I know that Jesus Christ is my Saviour and Redeemer. I know that he died for me and that His Atonement is one of the most precious gifts I could ever have.

I know that Jesus Christ lives.

This will always be a part of who I am, and it is something that I will endeavour to always keep close to me and to teach my children what I know.
